My Beloved Family

Dear Mrs. Somisahara, Best wishes to you, such a regular and inspiring blogger in Tehran, from somebody in Germany. I have several friends and colleagues who are from Iran, but left their country either temporarily or for ever. I know about all the difficulties in your country.
I have a - maybe - strange request: I am desperately looking for a couple of pieces of wood from Iran. It should be either Elm (دردار) or Ash (فارسی). I plan to buildt some ski from Iranian wood (it might sound like a joke, but I am honest). A friend of mine from Tehran already wanted to help me, but he did not find any of these wood types. I even would come to Iran to buy it, but only if somebody could tell me for sure that it is available. I dont need much, about 6 boards, each 1,60m long, 10cm broad, 1 cm thick.

I hope you dont think I am joking.
All the best for your family and your job.

Dear Mrs. Somaye Assaran, you posted some pictures last November from a trip to Dar Abad. Is this in the Elburs mountains ? The reason I ask is again my interest to get some pieces of wood from Elm or Ash (see previous comment). A friend of mine in Theran, to whom I talk occasionally by phone, initially suggested that in the Elburs mountains these trees should grow. But recently he came back to me and said sorry, but nobody could provide him wood of these trees. Don't take me wrong, I don't want to loot Iran of its forest, I only need a few wood pieces, altogether around 10 kg for building ski.
On the photographs with your family in Dar Abad, the trees in the forest could be the right ones. Do you think you could investigate this for me ?

best regards, Michael
