What will be your reaction of seeing someone's wearing a ring (or any other gift) which is unique and you'd given it to a common friend as her birthday gift? and when you ask it from the person who is wearing about the place she had bought that ring, she answers proudly that it's her birthday gift by that common friend (!!!!!!!!!)

it is not important at all.it shows clearly that your gift was not suitable for the first friend and she or he has given it as a gift to another one.finally don't forget that gifts are never destroyed only they are passed from one person to another one(first law of energy)
The situation you described is in fact a very common joke used in German soap operas and theater commedies. However, I never met somebody who experienced it on herself, like in your case. Congratulations, you are the first. But I have (in fact with my father) an even more rediculous experience: I give him a nice book, or a tie, or a leather belt for christmas. And guess what: He gives it back to me for birthday (Since he forgot that it originally was given to him from me). Thats a standing joke in our family, but it is based on real experiences.
It is a pitty that your inspiring posts generate so little comments from other readers.
